Dr. Allen F. Ross was born in New York City on September 7, 1951. He holds four advanced degrees, including a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University. Dr. Allen has more than twenty- five years of highly diverse, domestic and international experience in investments, finance, management consulting, government and academia. He has proven expertise in business development, financial management, international economics and university teaching.
His academic accomplishments include positions teaching economics, international studies, the Contemporary Civilization (Great Books) Seminar and, particularly, lecturing as a professor of international business and finance, both for the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and other academic institutions.
As an international economic consultant for the U.S. Department of the Treasury he provided economic advice for the office of International Development Banks (World Bank, etc.)
His private business activities include a wide range of positions and responsibilities. His work with investments provided an opportunity to manage stocks, bonds and real estate as a principal, analyst, and advisor. He has provided intricate financial structuring, negotiated contracts with regional and international firms, and done securities evaluations, all while securing licenses in securities, insurance and investment firm management.
As head of a technology company he developed a joint-venture with Battelle Memorial Institute, received a major design contract from the U.S. Department of Energy, developed projects in the Middle East and Far East, received national exposure through a New York Times feature article and the NBC Today Show, and received designation as one of the Top 20 High Technology firms by the New York State Department of Commerce.
Dr. Allen’s expertise in business development and management led to his involvement in projects with the Government of Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Health of Peru and the Minister of Agriculture of Nigeria. His domestic concerns have included the intricate financial structuring and business enhancement of projects in numerous areas including high technology, motion picture production, healthcare facilities, real estate complexes and telecommunications. He continues to get involved in a wide range of projects.
During the past decade Dr. Ross developed a tax-oriented strategies firm. Working with custom designed programs he has conducted a wide array of seminars for the New York and Texas State Societies of CPAs, the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs, Estate Planning Councils, Tax Institutes, national financial organizations, and major accounting and law firms. His more than 40 articles have been featured in numerous national journals and magazines for professionals such as Accounting Today, Journal of Practical Estate Planning, Journal of Retirement Planning, Trusts & Estates, and Journal of Accountancy. Dr. Allen was also appointed to the Editorial Board of four professional publications. He acted as a special representative, general agent, or consultant to about a dozen leading financial institutions.More recently Dr. Ross has enhanced his involvement in international projects. In China he has been a principal in the restructuring, refinancing and expansion of a strategic southern port and the future construction of a major multipurpose real estate project in Yantai. Dr. Allen has also taken an active role in the creation of an international trade credit, in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance of China. He has been asked to assess, reposition and, eventually, sell the multi-billion dollar steel interests in Russia and the Ukraine of a Guernsey conglomerate. Other projects, both internationally and domestically, are also being considered.
Dr. Allen remains a regularly consulted professional in many areas of business development, management and finance.
In addition to his diversified business life, Dr. Allen maintains an equally varied array of personal activities. Although residing in Great Neck, New York, he travels regularly to visit close relatives and friends and to enhance his intellectual curiosity.
Closer to home, he spends his time on various athletic activities, an array of volunteer projects and a constant interest in reading and learning.
